Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how cue:church (“cue:church,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and service. We built cue:church to help churches deliver the moment of a service to every phone in the room — and we try to collect only what we need to do that well.

Two kinds of people use cue:church. Church staff and volunteers create accounts to build and run services. Congregation members join a live service from their own phones without creating an account or giving us their name or email. This policy describes what we collect in both cases.

1. Information we collect

Church accounts (staff & volunteers)

When your church signs up and uses cue:church, we collect:

Account details — the name and email address used to sign in, an encrypted password, your church's name and chosen web address (slug), and each user's role.
Service content you create — the lyrics, scripture references, sermon points, response and giving moments, cues, and other content you add to build and run a service.
Billing information — your subscription plan and status. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card number.
Imported content — if you connect Planning Center, we import the service plan information you choose to bring in.

Congregation members

Members join a live service anonymously. We do not ask members for a name, email, or login. For each member we create an anonymous session (stored in a cookie on the member's device) so we can keep their experience in sync with the service and hold the items they choose to save, such as:

Verses or moments a member taps to save
Personal notes a member writes during the service
Responses a member taps (for example, “Amen”)

This content is tied to the anonymous session, not to a named individual. Giving, when used, is processed by our payment provider under its own terms.

Audio (Audio add-on only)

If your church enables the optional Audio add-on, service audio is processed to generate live captions and audio-driven features. Audio is processed through our speech provider (Deepgram) to produce text. If you do not enable this add-on, we do not process your service audio.

Information collected automatically

Usage and log data — such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and timestamps, used to operate and secure the service.
Cookies — used to keep you signed in, keep members in sync with the live service, and understand how the service is used.

2. How we use information

To provide, operate, and maintain the service.
To deliver a live service to congregation members' devices.
To process subscriptions and billing.
To respond to support requests and communicate with account holders.
To secure the service and prevent abuse.
To improve and develop new features.
To comply with legal obligations.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the service, including with:

Service providers that power cue:church, including Supabase (database, authentication, and storage), Stripe (payments), Deepgram (live captions, when the Audio add-on is enabled), Planning Center (service import, when you connect it), API.Bible (scripture text), and Vercel (hosting). Each processes data on our behalf or under its own privacy policy.
Legal and safety — when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of cue:church, our users, or others.
Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

4. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep account holders signed in, to keep congregation members in sync with the live service, and to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

5. Data retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Anonymous member session content is retained as needed to provide the member experience and may be removed over time.

6. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and access controls that scope each church's data to that church. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Account holders can update much of their information in-product or by contacting us. To make a request, email us at the address below. We will respond consistent with applicable law.

8. Children's privacy

cue:church is intended for use by churches and their staff, and the service is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Members participate anonymously, and we do not ask members for identifying information. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. International users

cue:church is operated from the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, you understand your information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes may be communicated to account holders.
